Inter, Marotta: “I am president close to Facchetti”
“A great emotion, being president of such an important club. An exciting thing”, were Beppe Marotta’s first words as president of Inter, speaking on the sidelines of the shareholders’ meeting. The top Nerazzurri manager has very clear ideas about the future in this new Oaktree era. “We need to guarantee continuity and then carry forward the issue of sports planning. I am a president who loves his job so much and I think I know it well. I am in a big club and I need the support of the entire Inter machine, women and men who work with me. Ausilio, Baccin, Antonello, Zanetti. There is a great human heritage, which is the basis of every success and I would put a lot of competence and motivation into this.”
“My predecessors? Certainly the value of memory is inestimable and has great strength. At the moment I have Giacinto Facchetti who perhaps comes close to me in terms of profile. The time of patron presidents like Moratti, Fraizzoli, Pellegrini is over. Today football unfortunately has a different dimension but each of them has given me a great line to follow. Lastly, I don’t forget Steven Zhang, a young boy who gave a lot to the club. My inspiration comes from those who preceded me, considering that the strength of Inter is not only the president but all the human heritage.”

Inter, Marotta and the renewals: Lautaro, Barella and Simone Inzaghi
“The next step for renewals? In agreement with the owners we will move forward on this, I believe there will be no problems because these players and the coach have a strong sense of belonging and this is an advantage compared to other negotiations. Today we must guarantee sustainability, which also passes through revenues. Inter is a wealth of resources and we must be good at valorising them. This would guarantee income that can give more strength to the sports area. Sustainability, however, is a word to be taken into great consideration. The first step I’ll take? Thank everyone who works with me. Including Oaktree for this unexpected act of faith. I am grateful to them for this great opportunity. After that I would like to treasure and study the recent past of the presidents to take the high-level human and professional aspects and then start working as I did before, now in collaboration with the new owners.”
Speaking of renewals. One is already at a good point after last week’s turning point: Lautaro Martinez is ready to extend his love story with Inter and Milan until 2029. But there is not only Toro on the list of Nerazzurri pillars to be locked down. Simone Inzaghi will sign until 2027 for 6.5 million per year. And, once the bench is set up, we will look at the fulcrum of the midfield: the club led by Beppe Marotta is working to secure Nicolò Barella at 6.5 million plus bonuses between now and the next five years. Inter’s winning formula on the other hand is to block its senators (net of indecent proposals on the transfer market, which can change everything, but this applies to all Italian clubs): Bastoni, Dimarco, Pavard and Thuram have contracts until 2028; Calhanoglu until 2027.
Inter, Oaktree and the stadium dossier
Not just the field. The stadium match will also open soon. A dossier that is close to Oaktree’s heart: in the coming weeks the American fund will try to understand if it makes sense to focus on renovation of San Siro (Mayor Sala commissioned one I study at Webuild for a renovation of the Meazzathe results should arrive by the end of June) or whether it will be more logical to follow Milan by building a new home outside the city walls. If the Devil has identified San Donato as the ideal location, for Inter the facility would be in Rozzano (in an area not far from the Assago Forum).
Inter, Marotta on the stadium: “Fundamental asset”
“Stadium? It is a very relevant asset in the economy of every football club. You know the vicissitudes that Inter has faced. Antonello deals with the topic so he will follow the evolution, but I repeat that the stadium asset is fundamental. However, there is already great satisfaction with the revenues guaranteed by San Siro, we are the team with the most attendance, over two million spectators in the season and over 80 million in revenues. They are important sources of income”, underlined president Beppe Marotta.
