MILAN. Beppe Marotta will be the new president of Inter at the start of the Oaktree era after Suning’s exit due to failure to repay the 395 million loan to the Californian fund. The CEO will also assume this role. This was announced in a press release from the Nerazzurri club before the shareholders’ meeting scheduled for 10am: «FC Internazionale Milano today announces the proposed appointment of Giuseppe Marotta as new president and the new composition of the company’s board of directors, which will be confirmed by the shareholders’ meeting”. Marotta underlines the sign of continuity: «This appointment is a recognition of the fantastic work done by the many people who have managed the club over the last three years». Same concept expressed by Oaktree: «In the role of president Marotta will give strong continuity to the club and will bring to the presidency the experience, passion and dedication gained during a brilliant career in the world of football. The board of directors stands ready to support the president and management of Inter to ensure that the club is positioned for continued success on and off the pitch.”
The names of the new members of the Board of Directors representing the new ownership who will replace the representatives of Suning and the last remaining member of Lion Rock have been announced. They are Oaktree managers Alejandro Cano, Katherine Ralph, Renato Meduri, Carlo Ligori and Delphine Nannan. Furthermore, Fausto Zanetton, founder of Tifosy Capital & Advisory, the consultancy company created together with Gianluca Vialli, will join the Board of Directors. Tifosy Capital has already assisted Oaktree in the Inter operation. And he played a role in the acquisition of Lyon by Eagle Football, of Melbourne Victory by the 777 Partners fund (owner of Genoa) and of Inter Miami by the Ares fund. At the end of the meeting, Inter will communicate the complete composition of the Board of Directors where Alessandro Antonello, Carlo Marchetti and Amedeo Carassai are awaiting confirmation.
