Early Monday morning left very strong news in NY. According to authorities, an undocumented immigrant native of Venezuela shot two police officerscausing severe injuries in the middle of a chase.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m. at the intersection of 89th Street and 23rd Avenue in the Elmhurst neighborhood of Queens. The perpetrator opened fire when officers were investigating a pattern of robberies involving suspects on scooters (electric motorcycles).
The agents belong to the public security unit of District 115 and tried to stop the suspect who was driving in the wrong direction and then began his plan to flee on foot, and it was in that chase when shots are fired by the Venezuelan towards the two officers, who also responded by opening fire.
One of the agents muffled the shot thanks to his bulletproof vest, since the same one hit the stomach area, and the other received the impact of the shot directly on his leg; so both were immediately transferred to the nearest hospital. Fortunately, both are in stable condition.
What the mayor of New York said about the attack on police officers

And then he continued: “This is what we fight against every day. This shooting is a senseless act of violence and a total disregard for life.” The mayor emphasized vigorously repudiate the factsadopting a position of little tolerance in the face of the attack of the undocumented.
“The police officer who was shot in the vest was more concerned about his partner, about saving his life and about receiving a tourniquet,” he said, on the other hand, Patrick Hendrypresident of the Police Benevolent Association of New York City. And he added that the agents “They put their lives at risk to keep New Yorkers safe”.
