For the second week in a row, the Arab Youth Center continues to present a series of educational lectures and interactive workshops, as part of the Young Arab Media Leaders Program in its sixth edition, which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the Arab Youth Center, and presented by media experts. And specialists from media institutions for 53 young men and women from 16 Arab countries, in the Sky News Arabia Academy, the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the Derayah platform, the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, and the Maestro Group.
The Arab Youth Center hosted Jamal Nasser Al-Suwaider, Executive Director of the News Content Sector at the Emirates News Agency (WAM), who spoke about his experience in the media sector and the challenges at work.
He said: “The challenges of young media professionals are greater than others in other sectors, especially in light of technical developments and the growth of citizen journalism,” noting “the need for young people to follow a clear path from the beginning, from academic study through training, in a way that achieves drawing a better picture of media work, and reaching… “Goals are based on scientific and professional foundations, away from hobbies and desires.”
He recounted his professional experience in the world of journalism from the beginning and its development over time. He pointed out the importance of developing the content industry, in accordance with the controls of news publishing and verifying rumours. He pointed to the importance of “mobile journalism” along with the need to differentiate between harmful and beneficial content, and that the challenge that exists today among young people is “Daily learning” which is based on continuous work and correct thinking.
For his part, Deputy Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, Hamoud Al Junaibi, spoke about the Authority’s projects and initiatives around the world and the role of the media in shedding light on these efforts.
Al-Junaibi stressed the importance of creating charitable and relief content to help marginalized and affected groups, and that the joy of people who receive aid in the field is the greatest reward for charitable and relief work, stressing that humanity unites the world despite its differences, and children must be raised to love charitable work and helping others, and that this value Rooted in the UAE’s approach. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center hosted a number of young Arab media figures and influencers, as part of the activities of the sixth edition of the Young Arab Media Leaders Programme.
The members of the program visited the halls and corridors of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, and learned about its pivotal role in building bridges of cultural communication and rapprochement between the various cultures of the world, and what distinguishes it from other houses of worship. They also learned about the aesthetics and details that the mosque abounds in that express the richness of Islamic architecture.
The members attended a workshop entitled “The Role of the Media in Formulating Concepts of Tolerance and Peace,” presented by Dr. Yousef Al-Obaidli, Director General of the Center, during which he touched on the history of the mosque and its message stemming from the thought and vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul. Sky News Arabia Academy organized two workshops for the program’s members, at the headquarters of the Arab Youth Center. The first was presented by the journalist and trainer Faisal bin Hariz, during which the participants learned about the basics of news work and television presenting, and the importance of specialization in work through creativity and keeping pace with development, and the second was presented by Abdullah Abudayak. The Arab Youth Center presented an introductory lecture on the “Young Leaders in the Third Sector” program, entitled “Creating Future Leaders for Development and Humanitarian Work in the Arab World.” Noura Al Zaabi, the project manager, explained that the program was launched under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dhiyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed.
