Crosetto: the armed forces contribute to peace
«The Armed Forces play a specific, peculiar, unique role within the State and its organizations: defending them, defending citizens and defending free institutions. They’ve been doing it for 78 years since then, and they continue to do it. In fact, they do much more. In the current, increasingly uncertain international context, our Armed Forces are also fundamental in contributing to peace where there are conflicts, wars, tensions, where international security has failed, causing deaths of defenseless civilians, especially women and children , unjust and often forgotten victims. This is why we cannot ignore what is happening in Ukraine, the tensions in the Middle East and the Red Sea, the instability in the Balkans and the situation in Africa, since these crisis areas, only apparently very far from national borders, influence our daily lives , our safety. A national security that cannot ignore international security.” Thus Defense Minister Guido Crosetto gave his message on the occasion of the Republic Day celebrations.
