The Rally Italia Sardegna 2024 is ready to start and with the race organized by the Automobile Club of Italy with the support of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia it will have complete television coverage in every phase until the conclusion on Sunday 2 June.
Tomorrow, Friday 31 May, at 8.00 am the shakedown, the tests with the cars in race configuration in Ittiri. The competition will start at 1.30 pm towards the first 4 special stages: “Osilo – Tergu” (25.65 km) with passages at 2.33 pm and 5.33 pm; “Sedini – Castelsardo” (13.26 km) with passages at 3.33pm and 6.35pm. At 8.15pm the crews will return to Alghero for assistance and then the night break. Saturday is the longest day starting at 5.45am and 8 special tests scheduled. Final stage on Sunday with 4 stages and the finish line at 3.30pm, still close to the Bastioni di Alghero.
RAI 2, RAI Sport, Sky and rally.tv will follow every phase of the Italian World Championship event.
The sixth round of the World Rally Championship enters the key phase of the program today, with the starting ceremony and the city parade in Alghero, a Catalan city on whose seafront, home to the service park, numerous collateral activities are planned which embellish the busy program that will continue until Sunday 2 June, when the final podium ceremony will take place on the Bastioni at 3.30pm.
There will be 6 RAI broadcasts which will begin with the service on TG2 this afternoon at 6.30pm. RAI Sport will broadcast the “Sedini – Castelsardo” special tests live for 1 hour at 6.30pm on Friday 31 May, Saturday 1 June at 3.00pm and the two passages on the “Coiluna – Loelle” at 6.00pm. On Sunday 2 June at 9.00 the first passage on the “Sassari – Argentiera” which in the connection from 12.00 until 13.30 will be the Power Stage of the Rally. At 4.00pm on RAI 2 there will be a 50-minute live report on the race with interviews with the protagonists and winners.
At the top of the FIA World Rally Championship standings is the Belgian crew of Hyundai Shell Mobis WRT made up of Thierry Neuville and Martin Wydaeghe on the i20 N Rally1 Hybrid; the Korean team also fields the Estonians, third in the world rankings, Ott Tanak and Martin Jarveoja and the Spaniards Dani Sordo and Candido Carrera. Three cars also for the Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT with the GR Yaris Rally1 Hybrid entrusted to the British and second in the world championship standings Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin, the French multiple champion Sebastien Ogier with Vincent Landais and the Japanese Takamoto Katsuta navigated by the Irishman Aaron Johnston.
It fields two Puma Rally1 Hybrids and the M-Sport Ford WRT, entrusted to the French Adrien Formaux flanked by Alexandre Coria and the Luxembourg Gregoire Munster with Louis Louka. The young people of the Junior WRC are expected, the 36 first actors of the WRC2, including the standard-bearers of the National ACI Team Italia Roberto Daprà and Luca Guglielmetti on the Skoda Fabia Evo Rally2 prepared by Delta Rally, the 4 Rally3 crews, the 12 Rally4 cars and the 2 Rally5.
