The IElectoral Institute of Mexico City (IECM) has announced that more than 85 thousand peopleincluding electoral officials, members of the Casilla Board of Directors, trainers and electoral supervisors, will participate in the organization of the election day next Sunday, June 2.
In the election day of June 2a total of 80,586 citizens will be deployed to operate the 13,431 polling stations that will be installed in the 16 districts of Mexico City.
In addition, the IECM will have the support of 830 electoral officials who will work from the Institute’s Central Headquarters and its 33 District Directorates.
Roles and responsibilities
Along with officials and citizens, 3,969 Local Electoral Supervisors (SEL) and Local Electoral Assistant Trainers (CAEL) will assist in the activities of the polling station boards and deconcentrated bodies. Their work will be essential to guarantee that all operations at the polls are carried out correctly and in an orderly manner.
In addition, 396 district councilors, both owners and substitutes, will supervise the installation of the Casilla Boards of Directors and the delivery of electoral documentation and materials.
At the end of the day, they will be responsible for receiving the electoral packages and carrying out the district count of the vote for the elections of the Head of Government, Mayors, Councilors and Provincial Councils.
IECM: Preparations and Coordination
During a meeting between members of the General Council and the presidencies of the 33 District Councils, the president advisor of the IECM, Patricia Avendaño Durán, urged the electoral officials to carry out meticulous and careful work to respect the citizen vote.
He stressed the importance of training and planning at district headquarters to ensure clarity in district calculations. Avendaño Durán highlighted that the IECM and its deconcentrated bodies function as a single institution dedicated to guaranteeing the certainty of the electoral results.
For her part, counselor Carolina del Ángel Cruz highlighted the fundamental role of the 33 District Directorates of the Institute, emphasizing that they are the ones who interact directly with citizens and manage electoral activities at the polls.
Councilor Erika Estrada Ruiz recognized the importance of work meetings to plan and coordinate the actions of the electoral process, ensuring effective organization and clearing up any doubts that may arise.
Meanwhile, counselor Mauricio Huesca Rodríguez expressed his confidence in the district personnel, stating that they will carry out an election with excellence, and highlighted that high observation of the process will contribute to transparency and citizen trust.
In turn, counselor Sonia Pérez Pérez stressed that the IECM is an expert body in organizing elections and that, with the collaboration of the 33 district bodies, institutional professionalism will be demonstrated again.
Likewise, Councilor Ernesto Ramos Mega urged each electoral district to hold working meetings with the SEL and CAEL to highlight the importance of their role in the process, especially during vote counts and the transmission of data for PREP 2024.
Finally, counselor Bernardo Valle Monroy mentioned that the Commission to monitor the formation of the IECM District Councils works to keep the district councils 100% integrated, making the necessary substitutions for their proper functioning.
The organization of the June 2 election day involves a dedicated and extensive team that, according to the IECM, ensures the transparency and efficiency of the electoral process in Mexico City.
