The third heat wave in Mexico has not subsided, and this day, the Mexico City broke high temperature recordreaching 34.7°C, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN).
The SMN reported that at the Tacubaya observatory in CDMX, the highest temperature was recorded since records were kept. surpassing the previous record of 34.4 °C.
These data highlight the severity of the heat wave that hits the region and its impacts on public health, leaving extremely high temperatures in various entities of the country, as well as havoc on the health of Mexicans.
Heat mortality
According to data from the Government of Mexico, In the country, 48 deaths have been recorded due to the intense hot season which began in March, with the first heat wave of this year.
Furthermore, an epidemiological report details that 956 people have suffered various effects due to high temperatureshighlighting concern about mortality and the impact on public health.
The state of Veracruz leads the number of heat-related deaths, followed by Tabasco, San Luis Potosí and Tamaulipas. These states have recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.
The intense heat has caused a high demand for water and ice in businesses in the capital and its metropolitan area, where a large population resides.
