Mansion, private jet and chalet: Michael Schumacher’s wife sold family assets to pay for annual treatment

On the morning of December 29, 2013, the then 44-year-old former pilot was skiing on the slopes of the Meribel resort, in Les Allues, in the French Alps with his family, when A stone crossed his path in a tragic way. Due to the accident, Corinna had to take over the empire built by the family and began making financial decisions about assets purchased by her husband. According to the English newspaper The Sun, the cost of Schumacher’s treatment exceeds R$ 38 million a year.

Called Villa Yasmín and composed of a main residence of three thousand square meters, the mansion where the former pilot currently resides, in Mallorca, Spain, belonged to the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, according to the German Bild.

In 2018, Corinna acquired the property for around 30 million euros (R$ 167 million). However, there is little information about the place. It is known that the mansion was built on a 15 thousand square meter plot of land, with two smaller mansions within the space, accompanied by swimming pools, gym, a huge garden and a helipad.

After the accident, Mick Schumacher, 25, decided to follow his father’s career in motorsport, with the support of his mother. He once raced for the American Haas team for two seasons, but is now a reserve driver for Mercedes.
