In the framework of the third debate for the Head of Government of Mexico City, the candidate of the coalition “Together We Make History in Mexico City”, Clara Brugada, launched harsh criticism against her opponent Santiago Taboada, pointing him out as responsible for the growth irregular of the city.
The discussion increased when Taboada explained that the capital was losing 300 hectares of forest every year due to invasions and tolerated deforestation. In response, Brugada did not hesitate to point directly towards Taboada’s management in the mayor’s office Benito Juarez, accusing him of allowing the proliferation of irregular constructions.
“In Benito Juárez they were filled with irregular constructions. Without a construction license granted by the mayor’s office, not a single project could have been built,” Brugada recalled during the debate.
The candidate of “Together We Make History in Mexico City” I don’t hesitate hold Taboada responsible for the situationcalling him to assume his role in the problem of the city’s disorderly growth.
“So Santiago, you cannot evade your responsibility, neither legally nor politically. You are responsible, you are the leader of this great problem of the real estate cartel,” Brugada said.
Brugada’s accusations highlight growing concern about uncontrolled urban development in the Mexican capital, as well as the role of public officials in regulating and supervising the construction of homes and buildings in the city.
