Santa Fe’s victory against La Equidad, which left it in first place in the B quadrangular and with a good step towards the final of the League, was marred by the bad behavior of the red fans at the Metropolitano de Techo stadium.
Pablo Peirano’s team won 0-2, with goals from Uruguayan forward Agustín Rodríguez and Argentine defender Marcelo Ortiz, and reached six points, two more than Once Caldas, which in the second hour tied 1-1 against Deportes Tolima .
Torres was hit directly in the face. Upon noticing the situation, the central referee of the match, Andrés Rojas, stopped the match and took his assistant to the other side of the stadium, where she was treated by the visiting team’s medical staff.
The attack meant that two of the symbols of the current Santa Fe team, captain Daniel Torres and scorer Hugo Rodallega, had to go to the stands to complain to their followers for their bad behavior. Already in the first stage, another fan had thrown an object that hit La Equidad’s goalkeeper, Uruguayan Washington Ortega.
What could be the sanction for Santa Fe?
The most recent precedent is on April 21, when an Independiente Medellín fan threw a knife that hit Atlético Nacional player Pablo Daniel Ceppellini. On that occasion, referee Wílmar Roldán did not end the match either.
“In the event of suspension, the respective club will be fined eight (8) to ten (10) minimum legal monthly salaries in force at the time of the infraction,” the document adds.
“If as a consequence of the previous conduct damage is caused to the facilities or people, the sanction will be two (2) to four (4) suspension dates and a fine of ten (10) to twelve (12) legal monthly minimum wages. in force at the time of the infringement without prejudice to the obligation to compensate for the damages caused”, concludes.
The punishment for Medellín for the knife issue was two dates of partial suspension of the plaza (lower north eastern tribune) and a fine of 13 million pesos.
