lLucas González arrived very excited for his debut with Central Córdoba de Santiago del Estero in Argentine soccer. It is the Colombian coach’s first experience in international football.
“It’s a huge dream. Very big. I don’t know the Monumental. When I came to Argentina I was eight years old and my father took me to the Bombonera. I really want to get to know it as a football fan and having the chance to coach there is another level.” González told Olé before the game.
However, González’s first game at the Monumental, so far, has been a nightmare. At the end of the first stage, River is winning 2-0. And there could have been many more.
After two minutes, the VAR annulled River’s first goal play for offside. But at 5, those led by Martín Demichelis went ahead with a goal from Facundo Colidio, after a clearance from Milton Casco.
At 24 minutes, Central Córdoba was left with 10 players due to the expulsion of Santiago Laquidain, for preventing a clear scoring opportunity.
At 30, Colidio scored his second goal of the night, with a header, after a cross from Claudio Echeverri, after a corner kick.
The first half could have been much worse for Central Córdoba. Goalkeeper Luis Ingolotti saved eight goal balls.
News in development.
