At an event in Chalco, State of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaumcandidate for the Presidency of the Republic for the Let’s Keep Making History coalition, reaffirmed its commitment to transform the national educational system.
In a speech from the Municipal Park, Sheinbaum highlighted his intention to eliminate the exam of the Metropolitan Commission of Public Institutions of Higher Secondary Education (COMIPEMS) starting in 2025, allowing young people to enter the high school closest to their home.
The former head of Government of Mexico City emphasized that, during her government, Quality public education will be one of the main priorities.
He stated that the elimination of exams such as the COMIPEMS will reduce inequalities among students and announced the construction of new headquarters of the Universidad de la Salud and the Universidad Rosario Castellanos in Chalcoreplicating the model implemented in Mexico City during her tenure as Head of Government.
Universal scholarship
The presidential candidate also promised the implementation of a universal scholarship for students from preschool to high school in public schools, similar to the “Wellbeing for Girls and Boys. My Scholarship to Start” program that she launched in the capital.
Claudia Sheinbaum reaffirmed her commitment to public education as a government responsibility to guarantee equitable opportunities for all Mexican children and young people.
Elevated trolleybus
In addition to his educational proposals, Sheinbaum committed to working in collaboration with the state and municipal government to promote infrastructure projects in Chalco, such as the connection of drinking water wells and the completion of the Elevated Trolleybus project with the Chalco-Santa Martha route.
He also highlighted the importance of implementing security strategies in the east of the State of Mexico to improve living conditions in the region.
Sheinbaum and social programs
On the other hand, Sheinbaum assured that his government will maintain the social programs established by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, such as “Young People Building the Future” and the pension for older adults, while it will introduce new initiatives such as a pension for women from 60 to 64 years and the construction of more than one million homes accessible through credit.
Other members of the coalition also participated in the event, who reiterated the call to the citizens of the State of Mexico so that the Fourth Transformation continues on June 2.
The statements of Sheinbaum and his team were received with enthusiasm by the Chalco community, which expects significant changes in the near future.
