TCL’s Milanese event served as a showcase for a vast range of products from the Chinese company, from the TCL 50 series smartphones to the new TCL NXTPAPER 14, passing through the vast offer of TVs based on QD-Mini LED technology and more .
Among the most interesting devices, however, were the new virtual reality glasses, i TCL RayNeo Air 2 arrived at their second iteration. We had the chance to try them for a few minutes and these are our first impressions.
An improved version
The new TCL RayNeo Air 2 XR are glasses for “extended” reality which aim to bring a new virtual dimension into users’ daily lives. These glasses come with a 201-inch field of vision thanks to the Sony Micro OLED display equipped with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, FOV of 46° and a peak brightness of up to 600 nits.
The integrated speakers, a total weight of 76 grams and the Eye Comfort certification by TÜV Rheinland they complete the offer for a device that has the potential to transform every moment of the day into a large cinema (or the ultimate games room).
During the Time to Go Big event organized by TCL we were able to try this new version for a few minutes, getting a first idea of the potential of this technology.
The ideal companion for the Nintendo Switch?
The TCL RayNeo Air 2
Our trial allowed us to test the device connected via USB to a laptop, dealing with a demonstration video. Even though the surrounding environment was very bright, we were able to see the quality of the work done by TCL: the image quality is excellent, colors and contrasts are well balanced and in general the viewing experience is more than good. The 120 Hz refresh rate allows the glasses to render images that are fluid and free of immediately perceptible artifacts.
The speakers integrated into the temples offer defined audio with a good volume level, so much so that despite the crowded environment we did not struggle to perceive the sounds clearly. In any case, being in front of an 85-inch screen in all circumstances is an experience that can make sense, especially given the ease of use and transport of the device.
Combined with a Switch, for example, the RayNeo Air 2 could become irreplaceable travel companions (so much so that there is a special Dock Battery to connect directly to the Nintendo console).
The TCL event also showcased the new range of entertainment TVs from the Chinese company, which focuses entirely on QD-Mini LED technology.
