MANGLEDmaw Games has somewhat surprisingly announced the existence of Amanda the Adventurer 2new chapter of the detail horror adventurewhich will be published this year and will soon have a demo during the upcoming Steam Next Fest, with a trailer of presentation.
The case of Amanda the Adventurer can be compared to other viral phenomena such as Five Nights At Freddy’s and Poppy Playtime: it is an indie horror game that has managed to establish itself among the public by exploiting word of mouth and above all thanks to its widespread presence at YouTube and Twitch.
It is a bizarre narrative adventure built with various video clips, in which we are called to reconstruct a disturbing case, watching 90s VHS style movies and old cartoons which hide rather terrifying clues and secrets.
A new and disturbing adventure for Riley
Also in this case, as in Five Nights At Freddy’s and Poppy Playtime, the sense of restlessness derives largely from the juxtaposition of apparently serene graphic elements and typical childish style and themes of great impact, with a particularly tense atmosphere that always seems on the verge of veering towards pure horror.
Between one thing and another, the first chapter has collected something like 1.5 billion combined views on YouTube, so this Amanda the Adventurer 2 also seems destined to attract a lot of attention, staging a new adventure .
Also in this case, the game is largely composed of video clips created with computer graphics in the style of old cartoons from the late 90s and early 2000s, which should be dedicated to children but hide very different meanings.
In the first chapter, the protagonist Riley Park discovers the videotapes of Amanda the Adventurer, a character who is somewhat reminiscent of Dora the Explorer, in the attic of the house inherited from her aunt and, looking at them, gradually realizes that they are messages, with the character trying to communicate directly with the protagonist.
In the second chapter, as reported on the official Steam page, Riley goes to the Kensdale Library to try to continue the investigations connected to Amanda: once she arrives, she is greeted by a mysterious masked figure who claims to know Aunt Kate and needs help finding something that the latter left inside the library.
It also seems that there is a “powerful entity” connected to the videotapes, which the protagonist must pay attention to, while Amanda, completely aware of Riley’s presence, will try in every way to free herself. In addition to the trailer, a demo of Amanda the Adventurer 2 will be released later this year Steam Next Festwhich will be held from 10 to 17 June.
