Through a message published on the official Dead Island website, the Dambuster Studios team announced that Dead Island 2 has surpassed 7 million players since its launch on April 21st last year. The count of zombies eliminated is also quite high, 24 billion, so an average of almost 3,500 brain eaters per player.
“It was a truly memorable year for the Dead Island franchise. We had over 7 million players enter Hell-A and 24 billion zombies killed! These are simply staggering numbers! We also had the honor of being nominated for Best Action Game at the Game Awards last year and, more recently, Best British Game at the esteemed BAFTAs.”
Updates soon with highly anticipated changes
In the same message, Dambuster Studios thanked the players for the support shown over the months and promised that new ones will arrive in the coming months “long overdue” updates.

Dead Island 2 is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC and within the PC and Xbox Game Pass catalog. It is a first-person action RPG in which players must fight their way through hordes of zombies on the streets of Los Angeles. It will be possible to choose between various characters to impersonate, each characterized by different skills and characteristics, and massacre brain-eaters using a varied and imaginative arsenal of hand-to-hand and firearm weapons.
