The historic Delma Race Festival in its seventh session, which is held under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, and organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, witnessed widespread participation in beach soccer tournaments for adults, swimming in its six categories, and kayaking for children. The organizing committee crowned the winners of the first three places with cups and gold, silver and bronze medals, at the festival stage, which is held in the city of Dalma in the Al Dhafra region, organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
The “Al Asifa” team won the title of the Adult Beach Soccer Championship, after defeating the “National Guard” on penalty kicks. The final match resulted in a 1-1 draw between the two teams, while the “Liwa” team finished in third place.
In the kayak championship for children (under 16 years), first place went to Saud Aziz Al Hosani, followed by Ghanem Juma Al Qubaisi, Shihab Abu Deif, Rashid Ali Al Hammadi, and Saif Abdullah Al Hammadi.
In the 50-meter swimming championship for children, first place went to Ibrahim Al-Marzouqi, followed by Muhammad Al-Fazari and Fahad Al-Hosani. As for the 100-meter swimming championship for children, first place went to Muhammad Al-Hammadi, followed by Saif Al-Shamsi and Falah Al-Fazari.
In the 50-meter swimming championship for adults, Muhammad Al-Basti won first place, Muhammad Al-Jah came in “runner-up,” and Yamen Amrish came third. In the 100-meter swimming championship for adults, Hamdan Al-Mazrouei took first place, followed by Abdul Rahman Al-Balushi and Ahmed Al-Hammadi.
In the 200-meter category for adults, first place went to Salah al-Din Sabah, followed by Imran Ali and Angeli Beitai. As for the 400-meter category for adults, Ryan Rajdin came in first, followed by Ivan Najoki and Hamid Al Ali.
On the other hand, a delegation from the organizing committee of the historic Delma Race for 60-foot sailboats visited the National Center of Meteorology to monitor the weather conditions, in order to determine an ideal date for holding the race during the coming period, which is the most prominent event of the festival in its seventh edition.
The delegation of the organizing committee, including officials at the National Center of Meteorology, learned about the details of the weather situation, and the Center’s efforts in the continuous monitoring and follow-up operations it carried out during the past days, to ensure that the necessary measures are taken to deal with the weather situation in a proactive, professional and flexible manner.
According to the information, the committee is studying the situation to determine a date for the start of the race, which the owners, crews and sailors are waiting to present a new heritage epic at the historic Delma Race Festival.
For his part, Majid Ateeq Al Muhairi, Director of the Marine Sports Department at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, thanked the National Center of Meteorology for the warm reception, and appreciated its important role, as it works amid extremely complex circumstances to determine the paths of the weather conditions, and also for the accurate and valuable information it provided to the organizing committee. For racing.
He said: The safety of the pilots, sailors, organizers and followers of the race is one of the priorities of the event’s organizational work, and an integrated responsibility between the race organizing committee and all participants. Therefore, it was necessary to go to the National Center of Meteorology to closely learn about the weather condition and its expected effects, to take preventive and precautionary measures to study and evaluate the situation.
Al Muhairi praised the response of the owners, pilots and sailors to the race organizing committee, during the registration period for participation, the technical inspection procedures for the sail bearings, and also the positive interaction with the preparations that the organizing committee continued to carry out, and the preventive measures that took place due to the weather condition.
He added: We hope that the weather condition will stabilize to its completely normal condition, in order to determine a suitable and ideal date for holding the race, to complete the picture of the festival’s success in its best form in its seventh edition, which witnessed many traditional and modern sporting activities, and interesting and distinguished events.
