Hours after President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) mentioned observations from the United States Department of State on the human rights crisis in Mexico, the ambassador Kenneth Lee Salazar highlighted the arrest of Rafael Caro Quintero, Ovidio Guzmán and Néstor Isidro Salas 'El Nini'.
It was during his speech at the Multilateral Conference on Synthetic Drugs, organized by the Office of Anti-Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), where Ken Salazar boasted the results of the joint work between Mexico and the USA.
“We work (…) on many things (…) look, look what we did with Rafael Caro Quintero, Ovidio Guzmán or 'El Nini' and others,” he said and then highlighted that they also carry out research hand in hand with the Attorney General's Office, directed by Alejandro Gertz Manero, as well as other national government agencies.
“Yes, the United States is a team with everything we do here in Mexico, but we are a team with the Government of Mexico,” he emphasized.
The ambassador stressed that his work together with the Aztec authorities were direct indication of the President of the USA, Joe Biden, who asked him to be a “partner with Mexico on all issues.” Some of them traffic drugs, weapons, people, etc.
“President Biden very clearly gave us the direction that we were going to work hand in hand as partners with Mexico on all issues,” he added.
About him fentanylthe drug most currently fought by the Stars and Stripes, said that arduous collaboration is necessary to reduce the number of people who die year after year as a result of its consumption.
Regarding the actions of our country in this regard, he said that the president López Obrador sent a letter to Xi Jinping at the request of a North American legislator.
Ken Salazar concluded that the US Embassy in Mexico has the purpose of forming a coordinated work society in which both countries learn from each other through the constant cultural exchange of Americans in the Republic and Mexicans in their country.
