The first live images of the Pixel 9 Pro have been revealed, which in comparison with an iPhone 14 Pro model proves to have decidedly compact dimensions.
With the revelations about its color variants, the approaching launch of the Google Pixel 8a is now clear, with an announcement expected during Google I/O on Tuesday 14 May.
In the meantime, numerous photos of Google Pixel 9 Pro have emerged, which give us a “live” preview of the next Big G jewel, expected for the second half of 2024.
The images were released by the Russian website Rozetked, which also provided some technical data of Google's top of the range for this year.
The quality of the images suggests that Rozetked may have had access to a factory sample, as happened last year in Vietnam, shortly before Google I/O 2023.
More compact
The Pixel 9 Pro model shown in these photos appears damaged, with cracks and even tape holding the phone together, but it still manages to give us an idea of the design.
In the images we can see it next to the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which dwarfs it due to its larger size.
The comparison highlights what Google's top of the range will be significantly more compact of Apple's rival; it is likely that the device in the shots is Pixel 9 Pro, given the presence of a triple rear camera module.
Google is likely to launch three models this year: a 6.03-inch base variant, a 6.1-inch Pro variant, and a 6.7-inch Pro XL variant.
These models should include one 128GB basic storagepaired with up to 16GB of RAM.
Unfortunately, no details emerge from the photos on the smartphone's SoC or cameras.
Cutting look
The photos reveal that the Pixel 9 Pro is codenamed “caiman”, with the model shown featuring 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of storage.
The source also shared images of the device from the side, highlighting flatter sides chosen by Google for this setting.
As expected, the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro will debut this fall, with the launch presumably set for October.
During the Google I/O 2024 main keynotethere could be a preview of the smartphones, as happened last year when the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro were announced at the May conference, although they were not made available for purchase until several months later.
