Cities Skylines 2 continues to miss the target: the DLC will be refunded and will then become free. The console version, however, has been postponed. Let's see the team's comments.
The team of Cities: Skylines 2 announced that will refund all players who purchased the DLC Beach Properties. Additionally, it will be made free for everyone as an addition to the base game. If you own the Ultimate Edition, you won't get a partial refund equivalent to the value of the DLC, but there will be exclusive additional content.
Via the Paradox forum, the team apologized with players stating, “We thought we could address the game's shortcomings in an unrealistic timeframe and hastily released DLC that should not have been released in its current form. For all of this, we are truly sorry. When we released statements like this in the past, we are committed to making continuous improvements, and while we are working on these updates, they have not occurred at an acceptable speed or scale, and we regret that we have lost the trust of many of you. We want to do better.” .
Considering that the new Beach Properties DLC is the worst rated product ever on Steam, an apology seems in order.
Comment on the console versions of Cities: Skylines II
Speaking of console versions of Cities: Skylines IIthe team wrote:
“We also want to talk about the long-awaited release of the console version. As you know, our plan was to release the game in the spring of this year. We have hesitated to communicate an actual release window due to the uncertainty we are facing and so as not to make further promises that we may not be able to keep.”
“We've struggled to get Cities: Skylines II to the level of optimization necessary for release on console, but now we hope that the delivery of a build in April will demonstrate enough progress to be able to proceed with a pre-release and then a build publication scheduled for October“.
“Before we have seen and evaluated the progress made in these builds, however, we will not be able to confirm the publication date, and even in this case a certain uncertainty always remains. Our ambition is to deliver the experience you all deserved when the game releases, but it will take time. It's important to note that the team working on the console release operates separately from our PC development team, so will proceed without dividing our attention or time.”
