After Misano, Formula E is preparing to make a stop on one of the most prestigious and challenging tracks in the world championship, Monte Carlo. An event that is always evocative due to its history in the world of motorsport and which, in some way, also represented the growth of the electric category over the years.
From a reduced configuration during the first generation, in the last few years Formula E has moved on to the complete layout also used by Formula 1, however passing through an intermediate configuration with modifications to the swimming pool chicane.
For this seventh edition of the most glamorous event on the calendar, DS Automobiles and Penske Autosport have decided to celebrate the prestige and charm of the renowned Principality with a unique livery for the occasion.

In a shade of brilliant black with gold details, emblematic of DS Automobiles, the DS E-TENSE FE23 in the “Grand Gala” version is dressed with a touch of elegance for the Monaco race, celebrating one of the most famous tracks in the world. Compared to the traditional livery used in other world championship events, the presence of gold will be reduced, leaving room for an almost total black look, as in an evening dress.
At the wheel there will once again be two-time Formula E champion Jean-Eric Vergne, who already triumphed in Monaco in 2019, together with teammate Stoffel Vandoorne, also capable of winning on the streets of the Principality in 2022, the year in which the Belgian also won the title.
Riders will also wear suits and helmets matching the refreshed colors of the DS E-TENSE FE23 “Grand Gala”, with black as the predominant colour. Finally, to celebrate this unique livery, an “Automobilist” poster will be created and made available to the public throughout the race weekend.
“For this very special and unique race, we created an equally special and unique DS E-TENSE FE23. Inspired by the gala evenings held throughout the Principality of Monaco, our car wore a jacket and tie for the “Grand Gala “which is the Monegasque race” explains Eugenio Franzetti, director of DS Performance.

“We created not only a special livery, but also incredible suits and helmets for the drivers, inspired by the 'Grand Gala' theme. The same goes for the DS 7 E-TENSE 4×4 360 that will take Jean-Eric and Stoffel around Monaco, with the same livery as their racing cars. 'Automobilist' has also created a wonderful poster for collectors, available on his website. So now we can definitely expect a special race with some beautiful innovations from DS Performance and its partner Penske Autosport.”
DS Penske is currently in fifth place in the team rankings and was the protagonist of a convincing weekend from a performance point of view at Misano, where in qualifying it was able to achieve a double front row with Jean-Eric Vergne. In the race, a penalty and various dynamics took the French brand away from a podium that, in reality, the transalpine driver had managed to achieve before the five-second penalty in race 1.
The Monaco E-Prix will kick off on Saturday 27 April at 3.03pm.
