Yesterday, the Community joined the celebration of World Hemophilia Day, which was commemorated under the motto 'Equitable access for all', participating in an information table installed on Avenida de la Libertad in Murcia. This action gave visibility to people with bleeding disorders and promoted the equal inclusion of the group within society.
The Minister of Social Policy, Families and Equality, Conchita Ruiz, attended the table together with the president of the Murcia Regional Hemophilia Association, Manuel Moreno. There she highlighted “the importance of creating social awareness and continuing to develop programs that improve the quality of life of people suffering from hemophilia, but also of supporting their families.”
A hundred people in the Region with hemophilia currently receive social and psychological care through the program that the Community finances the Federation of Murcian Associations of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities (Famdif-Cocemfe), for an amount of 76,000 euros. . An initiative that is developed in coordination with the Hematology, Neuropediatrics, Rehabilitation, Pharmacy and Genetics services of the Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital, and that also includes carrying out a study of carriers of severe Hemophilia A and B, at a psychosocial level. and hematological.
Volunteer training
The training of family members, volunteers and professionals is also essential to address this pathology that, in most cases, causes organic and/or physical disability. For this reason, the program subsidized by Famdif also includes the recruitment and training of volunteers, a Family School, the creation of explanatory materials with basic and complementary information on hemophilia and the development of training sessions aimed at young people and minors between 7 and 12 years.
