Google appears to be working on the Pixel Buds Pro 2 as the charging case's battery size appears in two listings.
It looks like the Pixel Buds Pro are about to get a successor.
The first traces of one have appeared charging case which seems destined for Google's new premium earphones, Pixel Buds Pro 2.
This is what emerged from a list of UL Demko (Denmark) and Safety Korea certifications, which provide us with the possibility of obtaining additional details on the device coming with a launch presumably in conjunction with the Pixel 9 series next autumn.
However, the possibility of a preview as early as May, during the I/O 2024 event dedicated to developers, is not excluded.
Information about the battery capacity of the case has been provided along with a picture of the battery itself.
Identified with the model number GH8tQ, the casing reveals a cell with the capacity of 650mAhslightly higher than the original 620 mAh.
However, the behavior of the earphones in terms of durability remains to be verified in the field.
As for the predecessor's stats, the battery offered up to 31 hours of combined use with earphones and case, and 20 hours with the Buds alone.
The production of the new models would be entrusted to the Chinese Chongqing VDL Electronics.
At the moment, no other technical specifications have been released, but it is likely that further details will be revealed soon.
Premium legacy
Two years ago, a first-generation premium earphone model was announced with various specs to match.
In terms of audio, the Pixel Buds Pro feature active noise cancellation (ANC), Transparency mode, equalizer and three microphones for each earbud.
Several sensors figure in the setup, including those for capacitive touch, in-ear sensing via proximity sensors, accelerometer, gyroscope and Hall effect sensor in the case, allowing for intuitive control and a certain degree of automation of functions.
What we expect from the Pixel Buds Pro 2 is that they include a update with advanced artificial intelligence features.
We don't know the launch date or anything else, however as we approach I/O 2024 scheduled for next month, we could expect to get more details. Considering past experience, with the first earphones launched in May 2022, it is plausible that the new ones could be released during or after the Google event.
