Blizzard is still thinking about one console version Of World of Warcraft, his famous MMORPG which blew out twenty candles this year. Holly Longdale, vice president and executive producer of the game, said this in an interview granted to the VGC newspaper, who spoke at length about how things have changed after the acquisition of the company by Microsoft.
When asked about the console version of the game, Longdale replied: “Obviously we're still talking about it. We're gamers, I don't think anything is impossible, but right now we have nothing to say.”
Will it ever come to consoles?
When asked a similar question at BlizzCon 2023, Longdale said it was “a complicated question.”
“We have these three expansions that we're very excited about. But it would be very disingenuous to say that we're not… of course we're talking about them. We're Microsoft now.”
During the most recent interview, Longdale also had the opportunity to expose the benefits of the acquisition, especially the ability to talk to other studios like Mojang (Minecraft) or Zenimax Online (The Elder Scrolls Online) about what they are doing, exchanging information. On relations with the parent company she was quite clear: “No one asks us to do anything. World of Warcraft is doing really well and they are very proud of the results, so they let us continue on the same path. They have been very supportive and behave as if they thought “Let's let Blizzard be Blizzard.”
The next step for World of Warcraft will be the expansion The War Within, presented last November, the first chapter of the Worldsoul Sagawhich will also include the next two expansions: Midnight and The Last Titan.
