Alonso in front of everyone
Three different polemen in the first three rounds of the 2024 Moto3 season, with qualifying for the Grand Prix of the Americas ending with the fastest time David Alonso. The Colombian from the Aspar team finished in 2:14.292blowing the potential start to the pole of José Antonio Ruedalate alone 17 thousandths of a second. Complete the first row Daniel Holgadowhile among Italians it stands out Matteo Bertelle, 7th but with little satisfaction after the decision of the Race Direction.
Q1: bitter return for Almansa. Lunetta passes
Qualifying starts off in the worst possible way for the Rivacold Snipers team, on the one hand due to the fine imposed on Matteo Bertellewho will have to serve a long lap penalty for having slowed down excessively in the second sector during the second free practice session. On the other hand, however, for the ugly fall of David Almansa in the first minutes of Q1 at the exit of the last corner, with the Spaniard also appearing to be in pain left hand, the same one he injured in Qatar and which forced him to stay away from the track in Portugal too. Unfortunately, the team then confirmed his absence for tomorrow's race as well. Q1 not brilliant even for the Italian drivers, with Carraro and Rossi not making it to Q2 placing 6th and 7th place respectively. For the 'blues' he keeps morale high Luca Lunetta, who with the fourth time snatches the pass for Q2 together with Adrian Fernandezauthor of the best time, followed by Jacob Roulstone and Joel Esteban.
Q2: Rueda one step away from Alonso's pole
Pole position was decided in the final seconds, and which at first seemed to reward José Antonio Rueda. The Spaniard, however, had his penultimate lap time canceled for having exceeded the runway limits at turn 20, necessarily having to relaunch to try to set the best time again. A mission that narrowly escapes the KTM rider, who by just 17 thousandths does not equal the Colombian's fastest lap David Alonsoto his first career pole in the MotoGP. Rueda thus finishes in second position, while Holgado completes the front row of the GP of the Americas, scheduled for tomorrow at 6pm Italian time. Matteo Bertelle starts from the third row, best among the Italians in seventh position, but who will however have to serve the long lap penalty. In the top-10 is Stefano Nepa, 9th, with Lunetta and Farioli 11th and 13th respectively.
