On several occasions I have spoken to you about the worrying consequences of the pseudo animalism. Today I want to tell you that every time they are more seriousand we must pay attention to this issue because what our country needs the least is more violence.
And it is that, the pseudo animalism and pseudo activism whose sole purpose is to gain popularity in social networks and monetize it, is causing society to become even more polarized and increasing levels of violence, putting life at risk both of humans like animals.
I tell you that this past Thursday a personwhose identity is still unknown, sprayed gasoline part of the land Ecoparc Colima Conservation Center that faces the outside and threw a lit match. The fuel immediately ignited, fortunately Center staff managed to put out the fire quickly and it did not hit any of the workers or any animals, but it did leave significant damage to the ground.
Ecopar's legal department has already filed a criminal complaint against whoever or whoever is responsible for this attack. Maybe we will never know who they were, but what we do know is that In recent weeks a campaign of hate and smear has been unleashed against said zoological institution and against others in the interior of the country.
I perfectly understand that not all of us can agree with the same things and that there is great wealth in the diversity of opinions and criteria. In this sense, I have long understood that not everyone should agree with zoos, with the care of wildlife under human care, but what cannot be done is deny everything that these institutions have done and do. in research, education and conservation. And what is definitely not acceptable is inciting hatred with false information, without support or based on ignorance, and even less so when it is done by people who are aware that they have a certain power of manipulation.
Natalia Zuazo is a journalist and consultant in political communication and technological policies and I like how she breaks the myth that networks are horizontal. Definitely on the networks we are not all the same, there are influential people, and many others who are not.
The specialist calls “the intense ones” the people who make conversations, opinions, and points of view resonate. They can be journalists, politicians and also influencers. But what happens if those who have that power, that resonance do not have knowledge, do not have the moral or ethical quality to have become influential on issues of which they are unaware?
In the virtual world it is very easy to take courage and lie, attack or denigrate. Things are definitely done and said that in the real scenario would not be done or said. The big problem is that the consequences of the virtual world are real. The blood they draw is not fictitious.
This time neither the workers nor the animals were hit by the fire, but If these hate campaigns continue by intense and intense whose economic and political interests we do not know, the anger and ignorance may cause irreparable situationswhich cannot be blocked or simply deleted as in the virtual world.
