At the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Football Federation of the Region of Murcia (FFRM) everything was clear in advance and it was a simple act. José Miguel Monje Carrillo will be president of the FFRM during the 2024-2028 Olympic period. With this, he will reach 24 years in office. After the assembly elections last March, he was left as the only candidate and there was no room for a vote. Thus, the only item on the agenda was the appointment of Monje Carrillo as president for the next four years in an event that was attended by 60 assembly members and that did not last more than 20 minutes.
Mariano Albaladejo, his rival for the presidency who could not appear, had filed a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office for alleged crimes such as coercion, corruption between individuals and electoral fraud in relation to voting by mail. He had also presented an appeal to the Sports Justice Committee of the Region of Murcia to paralyze the electoral process. «The lot of falsehoods that have been said cannot be poured out. The electoral process has been impeccable. All decisions have been endorsed by the Sports Justice Committee of the Autonomous Community of Murcia,” said Manuel Pérez Botía, president of the Electoral Board.
The appointment was responded to with applause at the federation headquarters. Monje Carrillo distributed thanks and had a special mention to José Luis Morga, honorary president and his predecessor in office. He was one of the attendees, as well as other representatives from different levels of football and regional futsal. He also wanted to influence the process to defend its validity: «There was an issue, the accumulation of the vote of those people who decided to vote by mail and we facilitated the transfer of the vote to the Post Office. Between three and four times a day we took the votes. Everything has been done transparently. You can be with a clear conscience. Likewise, he stated on this aspect that “they have presented six resolutions to modify the regulations. They have been told no six times. They have sought to see that it was not correct. And it is correct,” Monje said.
Goals
In the year of the FFRM's centenary, the re-elected president outlined some of its objectives and measures. He spoke about the celebration of an official match of the Spanish team in the last quarter of 2024 at the Enrique Roca stadium. Likewise, he confessed that the goal is to host the 2030 World Cup. In addition, he noted that he will try to ensure that 70% of the federation costs (registration, licenses or arbitration costs) in football and futsal are subsidized by the Federation. He also advanced the increase in sports equipment. «The line is to continue growing. We have income that will allow us to continue improving all issues,” he concluded.
