The president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, presented the Vive Plan this week. An ambitious program to build thousands of protected homes throughout the Valencian Community. Torrevieja will be one of the beneficiary cities. One of the conditions is that the town councils dispose of the land and the return of the PP to the Valencian government, in this sense, has coincided with the beginning of the works of what is the largest urban expansion of the salt city in many years. Sector 20 La Hoya is the last large pocket of developable land left in the municipality and this has been the area chosen by the mayor, Eduardo Dolón, to host these new constructions aimed at young people and families with low incomes. In total, 64,000 of the 1.8 million square meters of the old estate must be allocated to public development.
Sector 20 is being promoted by several developers of which Grupo TM from Torrevieja owns the majority of the property and the largest investment (close to 60 million). In addition, Grupo TM also plans to locate its new corporate headquarters next to the International Auditorium and the N-332. Social housing, for its part, will not be far away. They will be mostly located on what is known as the 'goat road', the famous shortcut used to drive from the entrance to Torrevieja along the Crevillente road and the AP-7 towards the Ciudad Deportiva area and Avenida de las Cortes. Valencians.
Yesterday the Government Board approved starting the reparcelling procedures prior to the delivery of the land to Valencia. Precisely in this area, the excavators are giving more vigor to lay the new roads. One lane of the 'goat road' has already been cut and will remain that way all summer. All as long as this is the first part of La Hoya whose urbanization is completed. At the same time, the TM Group has begun to build its new headquarters and has located pilot offices for the sale of future apartments. When La Hoya is completed, it is expected to accommodate around 18,000 people, slightly more than the population of Santomera.
La Hoya was one of the last dry farms in the municipality along with Lo Ferris. The urban plan will preserve at its heart the old farmhouse that gave its name to the estate and centuries-old specimens of garroferas that cross the border of the sector with the CV-905.
Environmental impact
The procedures for the final approval of its development were very long. Many allegations were made by environmental groups and finally the plan had to be amended to include a large green area on the border with the La Mata lagoon. It will also be the first urbanization in Torrevieja designed with a separate stormwater network.
