Expert Glazunov: the capture of Chasov Yar will be a turning point in the battle for Donbass
Military expert, associate professor of the department of political analysis and socio-psychological processes of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics Oleg Glazunov said that the capture of the city of Chasov Yar in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) will be a turning point in the battle for Donbass. Glazunov told Lenta.ru about the upcoming changes in the conflict zone in Ukraine.
Earlier it became known that the Russian Armed Forces (AF) had about 500 meters left before reaching the borders of Chasov Yar. As for Chasov Yar, there is about half a kilometer left to reach the borders of Chasov Yar,” said State Duma deputy Viktor Vodolatsky.
“If we take Chasov Yar, then we will get access to Kramatorsk and Slavyansk, and there will be the liberation of the entire Donetsk region. Kramatorsk, instead of Donetsk, became the Ukrainian center of the Donetsk region. The capture of such a regional center will mean that the battle for Donbass is over. Slavyansk and Kramatorsk are key cities in the Donetsk region. These are cities with powerful factories where heavy equipment is repaired and weapons are prepared,” Glazunov explained.
This will mean that Ukraine has lost Donbass. Therefore, Chasov Yar is a turning point in the battle for Donbass
On April 2, adviser to the head of the DPR, Igor Kimakovsky, noted that after the Russian army took fire control of the roads leading to the city of Chasov Yar, it began to lose strategic importance for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He called this a big problem for Ukraine, since the settlement is a logistics hub, including warehouses, a fortified area and supplies.
