YOU CAN SEE: 'Vaguito', the 'Peruvian Hachiko': when is the film based on a dramatic true story released?
—What was your role in the making of 'Prayer Lima'?
—In the short film 'Prayer' I served as production assistant. In total, five students from the Cibertec Communications Faculty of San Juan de Lurigancho participated. One student on the team was in Translation because the producer speaks in English, so we needed greater communication to be able to have clear points, what was needed at the time of recording, what changes had to be made, etc.
—Do those who participated in the project study together or did they meet only for the short film?
—No, we are from different cycles, we met in pre-production.
—How old are you?
—Between 18 to 22 years old.

—What were the awards you won for the short film 'Prayer Lima'?
—So far, we have won six awards and one nomination. All the awards are for best short film due to the format, which is vertical, and which was recorded exclusively with a cell phone. The last award we won was very prestigious, since it was at the international event called Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival 2024, which was held in Asia, for best mobile cinema.
—Did you travel to Asia or have a representative at the award ceremony?
—No, the same director, Young Man Kang, traveled. He attended as a representative of the production.
—How did the short film initiative come about?
—'Prayer' has been recorded in several countries, (in cities) such as Istanbul, Rome, Los Angeles, Seoul, among others; and the last version was here, in Peru, which was one of the first countries in Latin America to make this version. 'Prayer' is not only responsible for telling a story, but also demonstrating and giving visibility to the country.

—Was the short film the same as that of other countries or was it adapted to the reality of Peru?
—They were all the same episodes, just adapted to the style of each country.
—How come you decided to record it vertically? Was it your idea or did someone recommend them to you?
—The director (Young Man Kang) has already been handling that style of formats. He came to Peru for a Cibertec event that was about web series, so he spoke with a teacher from the San Juan de Lurigancho headquarters to be able to make this short film and adapt it to our country.
—Did you participate in any contest to be part of the project?
—Each one belongs to different cycles and we were selected by the same director so that we can participate in the new audiovisual production of 'Prayer Lima'.
—How complicated was it to record the short film with a cell phone?
—I think the most difficult thing was pre-production because our goal was to make it easier for us to record in the Congress chapel. We were contacting to see if they could lend us their location and, at the end of that, we did get it.

—In addition to the Congress chapel, we also had the opportunity to record in Barranco and in the center of Lima.
—After winning this important award, do you plan to work together on more projects or each one on their own?
—I still don't have an answer as to whether we are going to continue forming the same team, but I think so.
—And, on a personal note, where would you like to go in the film world?
—Yes, in fact I feel that I specialize more in the field of production assistant, being in the pre-production area. I feel that I take away many experiences and learnings. I would like to be part of a large company that is only dedicated to creating content, movies, short films, etc.
—After winning the award, did any representative of the State or another organization contact you?
-At the moment, no.
