If there's one thing that Warhammer 40,000 does best of all, is to make you want to be a “demon slayer” in a dystopian and dark future. And this time, dear followers of the Imperium, you are in luck, because Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters gives you the opportunity to do so without the hassle of having to face the horrors of the abyss live! Let's find out how in the review of the new tactical title based on the infinite Warhammer universe.
Infernal Chaos!
Packed with all the chaos and brutality you've come to expect from the Warhammer 40,000 universe, this game is like a cruise through a demon's brothel, but with fewer margaritas and more laser weapons. From a story point of view, the game can be summarized as the “usual” specious battle between Imperium and Chaos, when one of the Imperium's inquisitors is placed in defense of a dimensional portal that threatens the entire cosmos.
The textures are so detailed that you can almost feel the demonic blood splattering in your face. The character models are well made, with armor that feels so heavy that you will wonder how the poor demon-breakers can move. And the demons themselves? Well, they're horrible enough to give you insomnia. However, let's say that although it is satisfying from an aesthetic point of view, the game lacks in terms of historywhich hardly captures the player.
Imperium on the massacre
The game offers a plethora of weapons and abilities, giving demon slayers plenty of creative ways to beat their Chaos Army foes to a pulp. Imagine deploying yours Space Marines and their weapons gleam in the crackling light as they fire into a horde of demons, slicing them apart with surgical precision.
Whether it's unleashing a blast of plasma into a Chaos demon or slicing it to pieces with an energy sword, there's something to satisfy every sadistic craving. Imagine carefully coordinating the moves of your warriors, placing them strategically to maximize their damage potential and protect key areas. But be careful, the demons are no different and will do anything to destroy your defenses and destroy your team.
Don't take clashes lightly: once you have taken the right position and in a certain sense reached the objective, the game will tend to make you come against new opponents, who could emerge from the ground and then hit you from behind. The demons will test you with clever and cruel tactics, forcing you to think strategically worthy of a general of the Imperium.
Imagine facing a huge, ferocious demon as your soldiers struggle to stay calm and suppress the terror that threatens to overwhelm them. And if you think you can solve everything by “shooting away”, get ready for a nasty surprise. Chaos Gate: Daemonhunters requires cunning and tactical thinkingnot just muscles.
From a technical point of view, here is the game leaves a lot to be desired, at least on consoles, where it is often difficult to juggle with the complex target targeting system, made up of green and blue lights that don't help in the slightest when they intersect with the terrain which often confuses the player. This is also reflected in the game menu which is not at all intuitive.
Fight without respite
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters is a game that will appeal greatly to the purest followers of the Imperium, with a pretty neat graphicsbut what he could have done more, for example by better integrating elements such as the characters' movement and attack area with the terrain. It's a must have for anyone you love the dark and brutal universe of Warhammer 40,000. Otherwise, if you are not a fan of the brand, the game will probably have much less appeal to you.
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters is an experience that will not disappoint fans of the product in general, although they also have to deal with a psychedelic and quite strange font, unusual compared to modern games. The gameplay is addictive and requires both strength and cunning, with the game promising to keep the most hardcore players glued to their screens for hours on end, as the massacre can really continue to the bitter end. Whether you are a veteran of the Imperium or a neophyte fresh from Terra, Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters is a must see on your personal journey through the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
