With the arrival of new previews and tests, Square Enix has also published various unpublished materials from Visions of Manawith a new trailer and various images visible below for the interesting relaunch of the historic Japanese RPG series.
You can get to know him better by reading our new review of Visions of Mana, as well as the interview with Masaru Oyamada who explains various details about the game in question.
The story of Visions of Mana takes us to Tianeea, in the Village of Fire, where everyone is preparing to celebrate a special anniversary that happens every four years, linked to the need to reinvigorate the Mana Tree.
Val is one of the guards chosen to protect the pilgrimage to the Tree, and is also the protagonist of the story. On the day the celebrations begin, Val finds himself involved in a great adventure, having to escort his childhood friend Hinna who has been chosen as the “Alm of Fire” for the pilgrimage to the Mana Tree.
The start is rather traditional and is linked to the desire to make Visions of Mana a sort of homage to the classic Japanese RPG, although it also presents numerous evolutions on the genre, obviously starting from the technical aspect.
The gameplay is based on the use of “Elemental Vessels”, i.e. containers of elemental energy that can be used both in combat and in exploring the world, as an interaction system with various scenario elements to open further paths to follow.
The combat system is also influenced by these objects, with particular management of character classes that change based on the vessels.
In terms of atmosphere and tone of the game, Visions of Mana closely resembles the great classics of the genre, but also reserves several surprises in technical and structural terms, which makes it particularly interesting. The game is set for release this summer on PC, PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series
