Unicorn Overlord is one of the latest games from Atlus and appears to be a success, at least in Japan. In fact, it even sells too much and the number of physical copies distributed it is not enough to respond to public demand. Atlus therefore had to apologize.
As reported by Twitter user Genki, who translates the official Japanese press release from Atlus, many retailers no longer have copies of Unicorn Overlord. It is also confirmed that the company is having more units printed.
It therefore seems that Unicorn Overlord sold more than Atlus had expected. A second possibility is that Atlus tried to push the public to opt for digital copies by distributing a few physical copies, but underestimated the players' desire to have the game in their hands and their willingness to make their displeasure felt.
Unicorn Overlord, a true strategic masterpiece
The reasons behind the success of this strategy are quite obvious, if you have read our review of Unicorn Overlord.
As we explained to you, while it is true that the missions are a little too chaotic at times and that micromanagement takes its toll, Unicorn Overlord is a game with superlative artistic direction, a complex and multifaceted gameplay and a story that knows how to surprise with its own subplots and alternative events. If you love the genre, in short, you shouldn't miss it.
