Although it came out a little quietly, the automatic shooter Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor managed to reach i 30,000 concurrent players about on Steam within a few hours; this is a truly substantial quantity considering that we are talking about an economical product.
Growing numbers
The data of SteamDB show sustained growth since launch, which will likely remain so throughout the weekend.
The fact that it is currently only tenth in the global ranking of the games with the highest revenues on the platform does not deceive, because Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is sold for a price really low (€8.99, currently). Consider that Steam evaluates revenues and not units sold, so with a similar price to climb to the top positions you have to sell many more copies of a full-price game.
What is this success due to? First of all, on the genre: it's an excellent clone of Vampire Survivors. Also to the Deep Rock Galactic community, cohesive and passionate about the universe created by Ghost Ship Games. In fact, it's one of the healthiest environments in the world of video games, when it comes to online communities. Is it because dwarves are good companions?
