The aircraft manufacturer's net profit was €3.8 billion, compared to €4.2 billion in the previous year
The net result of Airbus fell 11% in 2023, from €4.2 billion to €3.8 billion. The company justified the drop in results with the increase in expenses in space activity. The data was released this Thursday (15.Feb.2024). Here's the complete of the report (PDF – 1 MB, in English).
In a statement, Airbus reported that expenses for space activity were €600 million, justified by the upward revision of the program budget. Read the complete of the note (PDF – 228 kB, in English).
The operational result of the space and defense area plummeted by 40%, from €384 million in 2022 to €229 million last year. The company delivered 735 aircraft in 2023, 74 more than in the previous year. The forecast for 2024 is for the sale of around 800 new aircraft, the same number recorded in 2018.
Airbus reported receiving 2,094 plane orders in 2023, up from 820 the previous year. “In 2023, we recorded strong order intake across all our businesses and delivered on our commitments. This was a significant achievement given the complexity of the operational environment,” said Guillaume Faury, CEO of Airbus.
Airbus revenues grew 11% in 2023, to €65.4 billion. The commercial aircraft division recorded an increase of 15%, representing 78% of operating profit.
For 2024, according to the CEO of the aircraft manufacturer, the plan is to continue investing in the company's global industrial system, “as we advance on our journey of transformation and decarbonization”.
