Hamilton between Mercedes and Ferrari
The day after the presentation of the Ferrari SF-24, also the Mercedes he removed the veils from his new one W15. Two events in which general curiosity was focused not only on the appearance of the two cars, but also on the comments relating to a single driver: Lewis Hamilton. As is known, the 2024 season will be the Englishman's last with the Brackley house before his move to Maranello has already been made official for next year.
Surreal climate
While the Red team will thus await the seven-time world champion in Maranello, Hamilton will in the meantime face his last championship with Mercedes, the team he joined in 2013 conquering six world championships between 2014 and 2020. 2024 will therefore close the 39-year-old's parenthesis with the Anglo-German house, defining his presence during the launch of the three-pointed star as 'surreal'.
A feeling that #44 described in more detail alongside his teammate George Russell and team principal Toto Wolff: “It's really surreal to be heresince I arrived in 2013, so 11 years with the team and I'm starting my 12th year – he has declared – it's a privilege to work with a group of people who see the work they do over the winter.”
Hamilton's future will therefore be 'red', but before that there will be a year to live with Mercedes, and with the related objectives to recover from two seasons in which the Englishman did not achieve any victories: “The goal of all winter preparation is first and foremost to bring the team back to square one – he added – I think we've had a couple of tough years, which I think have been really key for us. They helped us reorganize. We've had to review things and now it's just about carrying out an important process, being really diligent in the work, understanding the data, understanding the car, maximizing the testing – even just one lap that we could do today in the rain it might give me and George an idea of what to expect.”
