A fake M badge or the M colors in the grille? BMW doesn't like fake items.
Want the cheapest way to pimp your car? You do this by buying all kinds of counterfeit items in online web shops. All kinds of counterfeit products, from spoilers to body kits, are offered for a price. Who knows that you have a carbon plastic spoiler on the back of your car…
Brands hate those copies. Also because these are offered illegally without permission. Amazon, one of the largest online stores in the world, is working with brands to combat this. In Spain we have the BMW Group and Amazon won a lawsuit.
The case was filed against four sellers who sold all kinds of fake items with a BMW logo online. This concerns products and accessories offered in Europe. The judge ruled in favor of BMW and Amazon. The sellers were not allowed to continue offering these items.
It seems like a drop in the ocean. All kinds of fake items are offered worldwide. Of course, this is not just limited to accessories for your car. In that regard, it is a prayer without end to tackle these criminals.
Fake stuff
This lawsuit involved vendors selling products such as key chains, center caps and badges. All with BMW logos, while the products had nothing to do with the German car brand. Buyers often know that this is a fake product. Yet people still buy it. BMW also has its own catalog with official products, which comes with a different price tag.
Amazon works more often with brands to protect their rights. In the past, the American online store has collaborated with, among others, Brother and Canon.
So, dear people, leave those cheap key rings, umbrellas, logos and whatever it is, for what it is. Buy the real stuff, or let it go. This way you do not support illegal activities.
