American the quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, one of the biggest stars in the NFL football league by Patrick Mahomes the father was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of drunk driving, says, among other things ESPN.

Mahomes and the Chiefs will play in the final game of the league, i.e. the giant event of American sports, the Super Bowl, on Sunday local time.

Patrick Mahomes Sr., 54, was arrested Saturday night in Tyler, Texas. He was released from jail Sunday on $10,000 bail. Under Texas law, the maximum penalty for the crime is up to ten years in prison.

Mahomes Sr. was convicted of drunk driving in 2018. He received a 40-day jail sentence, which he served on weekends.

Poika-Mahomes has won the Super Bowl with the Chiefs in 2020 and 2023. He was chosen as the Super Bowl's most valuable player both times. The Chiefs will face the San Francisco 49ers in this season's Super Bowl.
