According to recent information shared by PokéBeach, The Pokémon Company would be trying to adopt strategies to punish the stores that they tried to do touting on the arrival of new stocks of special themed cards Van Gogh from Pokémon.
PokéBeach writes: “Yesterday the official distributor of Pokémon, Asmodee, contacted hobby shops to inform them that they will only receive 10 promotional “Pikachu with gray felt hat” cards. Asmodee previously announced that there would be 100 per shop. order came directly from The Pokémon Company.”
The choice would have been made after they appeared online various pre-sales of cards of Pichachu with gray felt hat at a higher price, put into circulation by shops that were planning to receive this product and were trying to earn as much as possible.
According to what is indicated, The Pokémon Company will give many more cards to the large Dutch chains in which there is greater control and which perhaps have a less precise idea of the value that these cards can achieve. The Pikachu card costs €29.99, but reports of pre-sales for even €100 higher have already appeared online. It is credible that most of this will be canceled and refunded.
However, it is not certain that the scalpers will be stopped, given that some will simply attack the larger chains and then resell the cards online.
The problem of Van Gogh's museum
In case you missed it, the collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum was ruined by scalpers and card collectors, who raided the museum to get a copy of Pikachu in the gray felt hat.
The Pokémon Company had blocked the distribution shortly after and is now looking for a way to distribute the cards without everything causing only frustration among fans.
