Buckingham Palace announced on Monday that King Charles III, King of the United Kingdom, has cancer and has begun treatment immediately.
A statement issued by the palace said: “During the recent surgery that King Charles underwent in the hospital due to a benign enlargement of the prostate, another problem was discovered.” The statement added, “Later tests showed the presence of a form of cancer,” explaining that the king “will continue to run the affairs of the state.”
The palace explained that doctors are advising the king to postpone public duties.
King Charles, 75, spent three nights in hospital last month after undergoing corrective surgery for an enlarged prostate.
The palace did not provide any details about the cancer that King Charles suffers from, but a royal source said it was not prostate cancer.
