Speaker Mike Johnson criticized the draft assistance to Ukraine proposed by the US Senate
Package agreements to provide assistance to Ukraine and Israel, as well as tighten control over the US-Mexico border, were criticized by Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson (Republican from Louisiana).

He stressed that if the bill reaches the House of Representatives, it is doomed to failure.
Ukraine plans to provide $60 billion in aid
The US Senate has introduced a new compromise bill on aid to Ukraine and Israel and on protecting the southern border totaling $118 billion.
Of this amount, 60 billion are planned to be sent to Ukraine, 14.1 billion to Israel, 20.23 billion to strengthen the border with Mexico, and 2.44 billion to support operations against the Yemeni Houthis. In addition, $10 billion is proposed to be sent for humanitarian aid to residents of Gaza, the West Bank and Ukraine.
The Senate clarified that as part of assistance to Ukraine, $14 billion will be spent on the purchase of new weapons from companies of the American military-industrial complex (MIC), 15 billion – on military training of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), as well as intelligence exchange and other support measures. Another 20 billion should be sent to ensure the filling of military warehouses in the United States.
Biden called on both chambers of Congress to immediately support the bill.
New bill on additional financing supported US President Joe Biden. He called on both houses of Congress to immediately support him.
We have now reached a bipartisan deal on national security that includes the toughest and fairest set of border reforms in decades. I strongly support this agreement
The American leader stressed that the agreement will not solve all the problems that he would like to solve, but if approved by the House of Representatives of Congress, it will allow the United States “together with partners around the world” to continue supporting Ukraine and Israel.
In the US, the bill was called a betrayal
The Senate bill was criticized by American lawmakers. US Representative Andrew Clyde said that no Republican should vote for the “treasonous” document.

Republican Majority Leader in the House of Representatives Steve Scalise, in turn, noted that the bill would not receive the number of votes necessary for adoption in the House.
EU countries previously approved sending 50 billion euros to Ukraine
The European Union (EU) summit on February 1 approved a long-term program of budget assistance to Ukraine worth 50 billion euros. The new support package was approved by representatives of 27 member countries of the association.

In the US, this assistance was called useless. According to University of Chicago professor and international political scientist John Mearsheimer, the allocation of 50 billion euros will not affect Russia’s successes during a special military operation (SVO). In his opinion, “the situation will continue to develop in Russia’s favor.”
Mearsheimer pointed out that the EU does not have a sufficient military-industrial base to provide Ukraine with weapons. This support, he added, is aimed only at keeping the Kyiv authorities afloat.
Russia, in turn, also commented on the decision of the EU leaders. State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin noted that the allocation of financial assistance to Kyiv dooms the EU countries to problems.
“The leaders of the European Union are dooming their countries to ever greater problems. This is the trigger that will set in motion political processes in the European Union,” he explained. According to Volodin, money from the EU budget will be spent on inciting war instead of using it to help European citizens and solve internal problems.
