GasGas introduces itself
In the long list of team presentations ahead of the 2024 MotoGP season today was GasGas day which – brand aside – actually brings KTM RC16s to the track. The Tech3 team revealed the new bikes today, also presenting the two riders who will ride them: the confirmed Augusto Fernandez and the highly anticipated Pedro Acosta.
The 2023 Moto2 champion, who in three seasons in the MotoGP world championship has already won two titles (in 2021, on his debut, he won in Moto3) is among the most intriguing names in the entire championship. There are those who expect him to be able to give the best a hard time for podiums and victories, while others are convinced that his apprenticeship in the top class will necessarily be slower and more laborious.
No goals, for now
The person concerned, wisely, tried to hide and lower expectations. In fact, speaking on the sidelines of the presentation, the 'Tiburon' explained not having set any specific objectives for this year of his debut among the MotoGP phenomena. “At the moment I don't want to think about the results. I only have one day behind me on this bike and this is not the time to talk about results or objectives, because it is not realistic“, commented.
“If I think about my career and my journey so far, it's all been very beautiful – continued Acosta – is having had the opportunity to race for an official team in my first season, it's nice to say that I won two titles in three years, it's nice to say that I arrived in an official team in MotoGP. But it's also difficult to deal with the pressure and comments – recognized the 19 year old from Mazarrón – I will try to enjoy the test in Malaysia and gain as much experience as possible to be competitive at the start of the season. But we will have to gain experience in the race to grow step by step“.
