President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva sanctions this Monday, 22nd, the Annual Budget Law (LOA) of 2024, after meeting with ministers Rui Costa (Civil House), Simone Tebet (Planning) and Alexandre Padilha (Institutional Relations). The PT member also participates in a meeting of the National Industrial Development Council (CNDI).
The meeting with the ministers will take place at 9:30 am, at Palácio do Planalto. The sanction of the Budget, in turn, will be made at 4 pm, also at the government headquarters, in Brasília. As shown by the Estadão/Broadcastthe PT member must veto around R$5 billion of the total R$16.6 billion that were allocated to committee amendments in the approval of the LOA.
The justification for the veto in the LOA, according to sources heard by the report, is that it will be necessary to adjust the value of the commission amendments to restore public policies that were cut on the eve of the vote.
The CNDI meeting will take place at 11 am, at Planalto. During the meeting, the vice-president and minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), Geraldo Alckmin, will hand over to Lula the new policy with the action plan for the period 2024-2026.
The plan must foresee three axes of “stimulus” from the State to the productive sector, divided into financial instruments, such as lines of credit, subsidies and grants; improving the business environment; and the use of public sector purchasing power to leverage “strategic areas”.
At 4:30 pm, Lula meets with the president of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), Aloizio Mercadante.
