Electricity | Exchange electricity is cheaper on Monday than at any other time in the beginning of the year

Electricity is at its cheapest in the morning.

Exchange electricity is very cheap on Monday. Electricity costs an average of 3.3 cents per kilowatt hour during the day on the electricity exchange Nordpool, including taxes.

The average daily price of exchange electricity was last as cheap shortly before Christmas.

The price of electricity drops significantly from the readings where it has mostly been running in the last week. Before Sunday, the daily average price was at least 10 cents per kilowatt hour every day during the week. On Sunday, electricity was already clearly cheaper.

Electricity is at its cheapest on Monday morning between 4 and 6, when it costs only a good 0.6 cents per kilowatt hour. Even at its most expensive, the price from eight in the morning is only a generous 4.1 cents.

A year the average price of electricity on the stock market in the third week ended up at just over 11 cents per kilowatt hour, i.e. only slightly higher than in the second week of the year. The average price for the first week of the year, on the other hand, rose to around 30 cents.

The decrease in the price of electricity on Monday is influenced, among other things, by the weather, which has cooled after severe frosts. From the beginning of the week, the temperature will rise to the plus side in a large part of the country. The weather is also windy, which favors the production of wind power.

In 2023, the average price of electricity on the stock market was about seven cents per kilowatt hour.
