Kirby: White House has no new information about possible confiscation of Russian assets
The administration of US President Joe Biden has no new information about the West's discussion of the issue of confiscating Russia's frozen assets. Such a statement did White House Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby.
“I have no new information for you about this,” he said.
Earlier it became known that the US National Security Council “welcomes in principle” the adoption of a bill that would allow the withdrawal of funds in the amount of about $300 billion and transfer them to the restoration of Ukraine.
In turn, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov warned that such actions would have “deep consequences.” He emphasized that Washington did not notify Moscow about the possible confiscation of assets. According to Peskov, by supporting the decision to confiscate assets, the United States is trying to put pressure on the Europeans, since the main assets of the Russian Federation are located in Europe, and not in the United States.
