The class of 2006 puts itself to the test
If in F2 the debut of the Italian driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli – who has been included in the Mercedes junior program for years – will certainly not go unnoticed in 2024 – in the same way, in Super Formula too there will be an eye on Juju Noda. The Japanese driver, who will celebrate her 18th birthday on February 2nd, will in fact be at the start of the top Japanese open-wheel racing formula at the wheel of a car from the Honda TGM team.
Juju Noda, daughter of the driver Ideki Noda at the start in F1 at the end of the 1994 season with Larrousse, in 2023 he participated in the Euro Formula championship, also taking a victory at Le Castellet in France. Juju Noda will not be the first woman to race in Super Formula given that the Colombian Tatiana Calderon preceded her at the start in 2020 and 2021. For Juju Noda it will be her debut in her homeland after having trained up until now by racing exclusively in European championships starting with Danish Formula 4.
“I am happy that I decided to participate in the Super Formula. I'm taking a big step and right now I feel a mixture of excitement and anxiety – declared Juju Noda as reported by the newspaper Autosport – I hope I can learn a lot and I want to have fun without fear of making mistakes. It's impressive to think of racing in the same category in which drivers who have been role models for me have competed, and recently numerous top-level drivers from Europe and beyond have continued or completed their training in this championship”. Juju Noda has already been able to test the Super Formula in the end-of-season 2023 tests in Suzuka where he lapped just over two seconds behind the best times.
