Do you remember the case of the robotaxi that caused so much discussion and triggered mass layoffs? General Motors' Cruise unit has been accused of trying to hide the incident and is now trying to get away with it by offering compensation of $75,000 to California regulators for the company's failure to disclose details about the famous accident involving a Cruise self-driving car.
In December, the California Public Utilities Commission ordered Cruise to appear at a hearing on February 6, accusing her of misleading the commission “by omission” about the scope and severity of the incident in question and of “misleading public comments” about interactions with the agency.
Cruise said she “is committed to undertaking significant process improvements with respect to her interactions with regulators” and “is committed to increasing transparency, cooperation and rebuilding trust with the commission.”
