On the evening of January 8, the Russian air defense system shot down ten air targets on approach to Belgorod. As a result of the attack, according to preliminary data, three people were injured, said the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov.
“According to preliminary data, there are three victims – a woman with shrapnel wounds in her back, a man with shrapnel wounds in his chest, back, forearm, and another man with shrapnel wounds in his chest and upper limb. Ambulance teams are taking the wounded to the hospital, and all necessary medical care is provided,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.
Gladkov also reported damage as a result of the attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU): windows were broken in two apartment buildings and one private household, three cars were damaged by shrapnel, and four more trucks caught fire. Additional information is to be confirmed.
Earlier in the evening, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that air defense forces had thwarted an attempted terrorist attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine using the RM-70 Vampire multiple launch rocket system in the Belgorod region. 10 enemy missiles were destroyed.
Also that evening, the mayor's office declared a missile danger in Belgorod and the Belgorod region. Citizens were asked to stay at home and not go near windows.

In addition, on January 2, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) fired at Belgorod with Vilkha missiles three times in a day. The regional governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said that four targets were shot down by air defense systems on approach to the city. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian air defense systems destroyed 17 shells over the Belgorod region.
On December 30, Ukrainian militants fired several Vilkha missiles at the center of Belgorod. It was reported that the strikes were carried out with ammunition in prohibited cluster ammunition. As a result, 25 people died, five of whom were children. Another 109 people were injured.
