Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin announces further successes of his mercenaries in an audio message. Even after the coup attempt, his company recruited mercenaries in Russia.
Moscow – Just over a week ago, the Wagner mercenaries, led by their boss Yevgeny Prigoshin, invaded Russia from the Ukraine and advanced a few hundred kilometers to Moscow in order to overthrow the Russian military leadership. The uprising was called off after mediation by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. This is only the second time that Prigozhin has spoken publicly after the attempted coup.
In an audio message he published on Telegram, the Wagner boss announced that his soldiers would soon achieve more success. “Today we need your support more than ever. Thanks for that. I want them to understand that our March for Justice was there to fight the traitors and mobilize our society,” Prigozhin said in the message.
After deal with Putin: Prigozhin promises further “victories at the front”
And further: “I think we’ve had success with a lot of things. I am sure that you will soon see our next victories at the front.” Prigozhin did not mention which front it was, nor did he describe in detail what exactly he intended to do. However, his statements could shed some light on how he views his deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He had given the Wagner mercenaries a choice: either they had to fulfill the contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense or follow Prigozhin into exile in Belarus.
As a result, there were several reports that the mercenaries were setting up larger camps in Belarus. “New high-resolution satellite images taken on June 30 show at least 303 tents capable of accommodating 20 to 50 people at a former military base in Belarus,” wrote the Washington-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW ) in a report. The tents appeared within a very short time. There are also reports of plans for two more camps in western Belarus.

At the same time, however, the reports continue that Wagner continues to recruit mercenaries. The Financial Times reported that Wagner also wanted to recruit fighters for the Ukrainian front in the Krasnodar Territory on Monday (July 3). According to the report, the mercenaries should then be trained for several weeks and then used in the Ukraine war.
The Wagner group played a significant role in Russia’s war against Ukraine to the very end, particularly in the month-long capture of the eastern Ukrainian town of Bakhmut. According to media reports, tens of thousands of fighters fell on both sides. The battle was declared over just over a month ago, and Wagner chief Prigoshin then withdrew his fighters from the city.
