NATO | The “NATO pen” used by Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto was handed over to the National Museum

So far, Finland’s NATO application has not progressed at all, as Turkey, a member of NATO, opposes the accession of Finland and Sweden.

The application was submitted to NATO on 18 May, however the process has not progressed since then at all. The Turkish representative stalled the progress of the application at the NATO Council, which is made up of NATO ambassadors, on the same day.

Application letter was signed with a Bullet ballpoint pen manufactured by the Hay brand and edited by Iltalehti had borrowed To Haavisto for signing the contract.

Similar pens were sold out at Stockmann in Helsinki immediately after the signing of the NATO application.

On Wednesday, the pen used by Haavisto was included in the collections of the National Museum of Finland.

“Things like that are poorly materialized. When a small-scale phenomenon arose from this pen, we recognized that it is here. The change in the security policy situation in Finland is crystallized in this pen, ”said the amanuensis of the National Museum Maria Ollila Ylelle.
